Megan Damon, joins us as part of the Tinzwe Media and World Arts Agency, In My 20s collaborative project.
Megan Damon is a storyteller – always has been, always will be. Professionally, she is a Community Manager, managing social media accounts and audiences. Megan did her Honours in Journalism at Stellenbosch University, inspired by her innate desire to tell the otherwise untold stories of others.
As her career evolves, she’s realised that storytelling is complex. There is no right or wrong way of doing it, and it’s ok for the medium of her storytelling to change. Megan used to tell stories through writing and even landed an International Journalism Exchange Fellowship in Germany where she was the youngest SADC representative and interned at Zeit Campus, the student-targeted magazine division of one of Germany’s most prestigious newspapers, Die Zeit. She worked in live television at SABC 3’s Expresso Show, documentary film-making with Sylvia Vollenhoven’s Vision in Africa, photography with her own brand, Megan Damon Visuals and now through social media with international clients like Mina Guli and World Animal Protection at Digital Communications Consultancy, Treeshake. Perhaps in the future, her medium will change, but her core remains. Her passion for educating and informing on social, political and economic injustices through her storytelling, will never change though. So, in a nutshell, Hi – I’m Megan and I’m a storyteller.
