What I am Looking For:
I am interested in fiction and nonfiction (essays and memoirs) that deal with love, religion, sexuality, the influence of social media, neocolonialism and working class realities in African countries as well as experiences in the diaspora. I am attracted to depth, characterization and honesty—which are characteristics of all good stories. I am looking for hungry writers who are enthusiastic about what they can give to the world, by virtue of their craft. The story having a humanistic angle is a plus, because the importance of stories lies in how well they succeed in interrogating human experiences and showing its various facets. I am also attracted to unusual thinking. This could be familiar ideas portrayed through new perspectives or contrarian bents on topical issues in society. By contrarian, I do not only mean differing from public opinion, I mean having uncommon insights to familiar problems. I am also looking for young and enthusiastic talents, who are themselves looking forward to building their craft to an enviable level, in the coming years.
